Account access, plan selection, and subscription setup
Before campaigns, domains, and lists can be managed properly, the account needs working access and an active subscription.
Understand what this stage is really doing
This stage is not just about payment. It confirms that the account can log in successfully, the chosen plan supports the intended usage, and the business details attached to the workspace are accurate enough for billing, invoices, and internal ownership.
If the subscription stage is incomplete, NexaMail may keep returning to billing or plan screens. That is expected behaviour when the account is not yet ready for the rest of the workflow.
Step 1: Create the account and confirm access
- Register with an email address that can receive password resets, billing notifications, and account alerts.
- Complete any email verification or activation step before trying to continue deeper into the app.
- Sign out and back in once if there is any doubt about whether access is active.
Step 2: Compare plans with the future workflow in mind
Users often choose plans by price alone, but the better approach is to compare the plan against the intended sending volume, audience size, and available features.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Sending allowance | This affects how many campaigns or automated emails can be sent within the billing period. |
| Subscriber or contact capacity | This helps prevent growth limits from appearing too early after import. |
| Billing frequency | Monthly and annual plans change the financial commitment and renewal timing. |
| Advanced features | Automation, reporting depth, or other tools may depend on the selected plan. |
Step 3: Complete billing details carefully
Billing details should reflect the real business or account owner, not placeholder values. This helps when invoices need to be reconciled or when ownership questions come up later.
Step 4: Confirm the account is fully active
Free or trial plans may activate immediately. Paid plans usually require payment confirmation before the status changes. The subscription stage is complete only when the account shows an active plan and the app no longer forces the user back into billing.
What should be true before moving on
- The account can log in reliably.
- The selected plan fits the expected sending and audience size.
- Billing details are complete and accurate.
- The subscription is active, not pending.
NexaMail account setup checklist for South African teams
Before inviting colleagues or importing customer data, decide who owns the workspace and which business email address should receive security and billing notices. Using a shared role address can help with continuity, but access should still be limited to authorised staff. Record the account owner, recovery address and renewal date in your internal operations documentation.
Estimate the plan from real sending behaviour
Calculate expected monthly volume by multiplying the number of recipients by the number of planned messages. Include service updates, automated reminders and marketing campaigns—not only newsletters. Add reasonable room for seasonal peaks, but avoid paying for capacity that the organisation cannot realistically use.
Questions to answer before completing setup
- Who is responsible for account access and subscription changes?
- What is the normal monthly send volume and expected peak?
- Which finance details must appear on invoices?
- How will password recovery and staff changes be handled?
Once these decisions are documented, continue to the sending-domain lesson. A stable account and a verified sender identity create the foundation for every later NexaMail workflow.
